It’s hard to believe the pups are 4 weeks old already! The next few weeks are going to speed by.
Here are their 4 week “selfie” head shots.
This week the little explorers spent some in an outdoor pen, with a baby slide, small tunnel, and a wobble board.
They had a couple visitors, including my young nieces, then went for another wagon ride to the car where they went for a 5 mile car ride “around the block”. They rode in the Variocage crate with Mama Pomo.
Their (sharp) baby teeth have come in, and this week they will start their introduction to solid food. In preparation for that, they got to gnaw on beef rib bones to start building jaw strength. I don’t feed beef bones to adult dogs even as recreational bones, as beef bones are too hard and can cause tooth fractures. Little pups really just tear at the bits of meat on the bone.
Today the pups moved into their larger indoor pen. Right now the focus is on potty training to the litter box, in addition to exposure to all sorts of sounds, surfaces, visuals, and movement. The pups are pretty mobile now, and getting to be quite interactive. This is a very sweet and fun age.
I’ll get more videos this week. It seems that every time there’s a video moment, it stops once I pick up my phone! Here’s one of the pups on their baby slide.
