Back from the National

I spent a few days at the GRCA National in Rhode Island (hooray for frequent flyer miles!).  Highlights were getting to spend time with Pat and Danica (one of the Sport-Travis puppies); eating my very first Maine lobster and realizing there IS good lobster in the world; going to Newport, RI with Suzanne and walking the Cliff Walk, then the street of mansions (Bellevue Rd); attending the English Tea at the National and seeing a number of very nice Goldens that one would not normally find in the U.S. breed ring.

I’ve posted a few pictures of Danica in the Sport-Travis Puppies Gallery.  The pups are almost 5 months old.

I was pleased to see that Best of Breed and Best Opposite Sex winners at the National were workmanlike Goldens with sound structure and beautiful movement.  (In Yogi’s case, his working ability is proven).  The BOB judge was breeder-judge Gloria Kerr.

The GRCA National Best of Breed winner was BIS CH Toasty’s Treasure Island SDHF.  She also won BOB at the 2008 Westminster Kennel Club show, and here is her picture from Westminster. I haven’t found a photo from the National yet but will replace the picture when I do!
