check your dog’s toys for safety
Recently an email has been circulating the internet regarding a dog that got its tongue stuck in a ball toy that had only one hole in it. Once the tongue blocked the hole, a vacuum was created, effectively keeping the dog from getting its tongue out. The tragic result is that the dog no longer has a tongue as it had to be amputated due to the prolonged loss of circulation.
This turned out to be a manufacturing defect as the toy was supposed to have both a large and small hole in it.
So– check all your dog’s toys! Make sure that any toys with holes have an obvious second hole for air flow.
