road trip – day one (san jose to ashland)

left today on the long-anticipated road trip! too bad fuel costs are so high, but who knows what it will do later this year. took two dogs and what seemed like a huge amount of stuff with me. stopped to meet suzanne for lunch on the way up. she lent me her pac nw dog travel books. thanks, suzanne!! 🙂 🙂 I’ll post those books and the others I used in a separate post.

stopped at mount shasta city to get a good look at the mountain and black butte. it was a bright sunny day so mt. shasta was absolutely stunning! wasn’t able to get a hike in because it was getting late. usually i’m a wimpy driver in terms of driving distance, but i felt surprisingly good so decided to drive all the way to ashland tonight. stayed at Windmill Inn on Suzanne’s recommendation, which I now highly recommend as well! noticed that gas prices in oregon are much lower than california.

oops, no pictures in this post– here’s a picture taken at a lake shasta rest area.
