Splash Dogs dock diving (and agility)

We have been at the USDAA Bay Team agility trial this weekend, where we participated in the Team events yesterday.  A Team consists of 3 handler-dog teams, and the individual scores are accumulated throughout the day.  We had a total of 5 events (Standard, Jumpers, Gamblers, Snooker, and Team Relay).  Our team (2 Goldens and a Border Collie) didn’t do that well in the overall standings, but we all worked hard and had a great time with each other and our dogs.  At the end of the day that’s really what matters– to us anyway!  Today Sport earned a qualifying leg in Starters Gamblers.

Splash Dogs is also at the trial this weekend, so Sport got to try dock diving.  As soon as she heard the first dog hit the water she wanted to do it, and once it was her turn she leaped right in.  In total she probably got to dive about 6 times today.  Some experienced dogs were leaping 21 feet (or more)– we were only watching during the practice.  I don’t know how far Sport was going– probably just 10 feet, but we had a blast!   I wish I had pictures.  We’ll try it again tomorrow, and maybe we’ll learn some techniques for getting more distance.
