Days 23-25

The puppies are now spending the daytime in a small pen in the family room in the middle of everything. They are getting exposure to different surfaces (crumpled paper, wire grates, tile, rubber). We are really focusing on their potty training now, so they will be staying in this smaller size pen until they are walking better, and able to be more consistent about going in the litter box. At this age once they need to go, they can only hold it for a distance of about 1 foot per week, so they can really only make it about 2/3 of the way across the 4 x 4 pen. The fleece mat is also washed daily so they will travel to the potty box rather than going on the clean area.

They are playing with each other now, and actively playing with the toys in the pen. They also get some individual excursions outside the pen, and are getting much better about walking on the tile floor. They are also getting exposure to lots of different sounds.

They LOVE walking on the dog fitness equipment. It’s so fun to watch them head straight for the equipment as soon as I put it in the pen.
