Litter theme, and sounds

The litter theme for this litter is ‘Artisan Beers’, chosen partially since this is a litter of six – Sporty’s “six-pack”.   While I’m not really a beer drinker, I do enjoy sampling different types of artisan/craft beers, and there are many fine beer names out there to select from (no Coors or Bud please)!   Any artisan/craft beer name can be chosen, though it would be a bonus to use a beer name from the UK since that’s relevant to this litter.  On puppy get-togethers, it would be fun to bring the relevant beers to taste, if available!

Suggestions from any of our blog readers would be much appreciated.   The theme is for picking the puppy’s AKC registered name, and the call name can be related to the registered name, if possible.  For example, here are the names from the “Famous Jingles” litter, where the registered name is a famous jingle.   Some call names are related, others not.

Tigana’s Calliope Drive Your Dreams – “Danica”
Tigana’s Land Of Sky Blue Waters – “River”
Tigana’s Let The Good Times Roll – “Rockie”
Tigana’s Sixpence Worth of Heaven – “Samantha”
Tigana’s In Perfect Harmony – “Jackson”
Tigana’s A Better Game By Design – “Lucy”

Some beer names I’ve come across as examples (names including spaces per AKC rules are 36 characters or less).  The ones below were found while scanning the BeerAdvocate top 100 lists.

Tigana’s Duck Duck Gooze  [California]
Tigana’s Exponential Hoppiness [California]
Tigana’s La Fin Du Monde  (one of our favorite beers but I guess the translation may not be the best.  Heh.) [Canada]
Tigana Youngs Double Chocolate Stout [UK]
Tigana’s Belhaven Wee Heavy [UK] (this was just funny given how big the puppies are now)

I didn’t even try to add call names to this – not feeling creative enough this afternoon! Hope that gives folks enough to think about the next several weeks.

On the topic of sounds— the puppies can hear!  We suspected it last night while doing the Bio-Sensor.  Sport almost always barks during the Bio Sensor because she doesn’t like her babies to get the least bit stressed.  Last night when she barked, I saw one of the puppies startle.  It was confirmed this morning when one of the puppies was trilling, and it caused a cacophony of sound including howling.  I got some of it on a recording.

And if that wasn’t enough, Don started whistling to the puppies afterward.  You can hear that and more puppy sounds here if so inclined.  Puppies singing 2

I played the Puppies singing and TJ was very curious with the sounds!

Promise was interested in the sounds too. She sat with her ears up staring at the speakers until it stopped, then started barking and ran around the room looking for the puppies 😉

Milo, a friend’s tiny pointer, was babysitting for me that night; he even looked under the computer table for the pups.
