New hike – Sanborn-Skyline County Park

What fun to discover new trails in the South Bay.   Yesterday we were supposed to meet with the k9hikers group at Sanborn-Skyline County Park for an easy 4-mile hike on nice wide trails.  I messed up and didn’t read the directions carefully for the meeting place, so Don and I ended up at the park main entrance and couldn’t find the group.   Figuring they had left without us, we started on the trail, which turned out to be a 3-hr, 5+-mile hike, on sometimes steep, rocky narrow trails.    (It turns out they went to another trail starting at a completely different park entrance.)

Ah well. We did a loop along the Sanborn to San Andreas trails, and it was beautiful though we were quite tired and ready to be done at the end.  (It didn’t help that the boys wanted to go FAST all the way back down the hill.  I think I know what kind of tracker Ronan is going to be– fast, insistent, and barking when I’m too slow.  I just hope I don’t end up flat on my face while tracking.)

We don’t have any photos that do the trail justice, but here a couple posed shots with the boys, and one attempted view photo.   While we could catch glimpses of the valley below sometimes, there were no good photo ops because of the trees.
